Form Designer

  1. Why is my label invalid when I have a '<' character in the label?

When typing labels you are free to use any special characters with the exception of the less-than sign (<). The '<' character signals the start of html formatting. If you need this character in your label and it is NOT part of an html tag then you must instead substitute the characters & l t ; (with no spaces between) for the less-than symbol. If instead you want to add html formatting to your label, the the < symbol is allowed but must be followed by a > character to create a valid html tag.

See this example: In the Label field, type this XHTML: Password <span style = "font-size:0.9 em; color: red; "> (6 characters) </span>.
