The Visual Rule Builder consists of 3 wizards:

  • Condition wizard - describe the conditions under which a set of actions should be executed
  • Action wizard - declare the actions that should be taken when the condition is true
  • Else Action wizard - declare the actions that should be taken when the condition is false
  1. Click the to add the rule.
  2. Name it Combine First Name and Initial
  3. Click Add Condition - this is the Condition wizard
  4. Select FirstName from the first dropdown.
  5. Select isFilled from the second dropdown
  6. Click Add Condition
  7. Select LastName from the first dropdown.
  8. Select isFilled from the second dropdown
  9. Click Next
  10. Select FirstPlusInitial in the first dropdown.
  11. Select to in the second droppdown
  12. Enter FirstName + " " + MiddleInitial + " " + LastName in the third field. (Hints will values show in dropdown as you type the name of the controls)
  13. Click Finish

    7. Type A_Allowance, C_Allowance, D_Allowance inside the sum bracket.
    8. Close the function.
    9. Click Finish

  •  Be sure to save your form by clicking on the  save and exit icon in the designer.
  •  You can test this form by clicking on the Test button on the Forms Home Page. The Today's Date should be populated with today's date and entering values in A_allowance, B_allowance,and C_allowance should show the summation in the Total_Allowances field.
